SS33. Special Session on New Challenges in Power Quality

Organized by Josep Balcells (balcells@eel.upc.edu), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain); Jan Bialasiewicz (Jan.Bialasiewicz@cudenver.edu), University of Colorado Denver (USA).

The new supply networks, with distributed generation, combining renewable and conventional sources, create new problems related with Power Quality. The aim of this SS is to gather a set of papers related with the identification, simulation, real case studies and solutions to these problems.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • PQ in modern distributed generation systems
  • Problems associated with electric vehicles charging
  • Simulation for PQ prediction and assessment
  • Numerical methods for PQ measuring and filtering
  • Wavelet-based techniques for PQ measuring and filtering
  • Synchronisation of distributed PQ measuring systems
  • Disturbances propagation and tracking
  • Power conditioning equipment: Active filters, SVC, STATCOM
  • Power Line Communications and PQ
  • Grounding issues related to PQ
